No tracking

No analytics or usage statistics. Prices, exchange rates and updates are checked online. Price services see the symbols you track, not your balances.

Encrypted data

Records and attachments are encrypted on your computer. Exported files and saved copies are unencrypted, so keep them somewhere safe.

For example, you could ask

Estimate my apartment’s value using its details in Moony and current listings.

For a property estimate, the agent also needs current market information.

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free?
Yes: Moony is open source under the AGPL-3.0 licence, with no trial and no account.
Why does Windows warn me when I open it?
The Windows installer does not yet have a code-signing certificate, so Windows may show a security warning on first launch; the steps are on the download page. The Mac app is signed and notarized by Apple and opens without a warning. In-app updates are verified with the project’s signing key.
Does Moony collect any data about me?
No: the app has no analytics, crash reports or usage statistics. Its only requests are for prices, exchange rates and the update check, listed in full on the Privacy page.
What if I forget my password?
Use the 24-character recovery key Moony showed you at setup; it is the only way to reset a password. If you lose both, nobody can open your data, so keep a backup (Settings → Data and backups).
Can I use Moony on my phone or another computer?
Moony runs on macOS, Windows and Linux today, with one profile per computer and no sync. You can move your data to another computer with a backup file.
Does it connect to my bank?
Not directly: import statements exported from your bank as CSV, CAMT.053, MT940, OFX/QFX or QIF.
